About
Two CPAs, about forty years of public accounting between us, building from inside the work rather than selling a platform from outside it.
Jim Wilhelm, CPA
Twenty years in public accounting, the last several as a tax director signing about 400 returns a year, a lot of them complex, multistate, and international. Before that, a top ten firm in Manhattan.
On his first day as a tax manager there was a business return on his desk for a national brand and nobody to ask how to review it. He started at the top of the balance sheet and worked down. The lesson stayed. Nobody teaches review. Review is a process, and a process can be written down. That is the idea behind everything here.
He has used AI on real returns for three seasons. The first two taught him what goes wrong. The third was the first the models were good enough for a real process, and the Blind Tally Method is what came out of it.
Ted Wilhelm, CPA
Twenty five years across public accounting and industry finance. Ted builds and runs the systems, the tenant, the intake, the controls, so that what Jim learns on returns becomes something a firm can rely on week after week.
What we believe
- Professionals should use tools configured around how their work actually gets done, not be replaced by platforms.
- The method is free to teach. The blind tally, separate chats, the slow model, Excel for the math, facts only. Any firm can learn it, and we say so on a sheet we hand out.
- What took hundreds of returns to build, the workbook, the instructions, the list of checks, is what we run for firms or teach in a room.
- Judgment stays at the signature line.
